Be Forward Wanderers Football Club have raised their concerns that the appointment of their coach Bob Mpinganjira to the Malawi National Football team will negatively affect their team a head of the 2019 season.
Mpinganjira has been drafted into the interim technical panel for the Flames as a fitness trainer a head of the 2020 CHAN qualifier first leg match to be played on 20th April in Eswathini.
Be Forward Wanderers Football Club chairperson Gift Mkandawire said as a club they don’t want to block Bob’s opportunity to be with the National team.
“As Wanderers we are happy that the national team want our coach Bob Mpinganjira to be part of the Flames technical panel but we would have loved him to be with the team every time and we are concerned as his appointment comes few days to the start of the 2019 season.
“You might be aware that Bob Mpinganjira was not with the club for one month during the pre season as he was with the Malawi under 23 national football team and his absence was a big blow to us as their is a need for us to prepare together”, Mkandawire said
Gift Mkandawire further said that Wanderers will have to look into the issue at hand for them to achieve their set targets this season.
“As a club we need to critically sit down and look into this issue as their might be a need to reinforce our technical panel but this does not mean we are parting ways with Bob Mpinganjira”, said Mkandawire.
Last season, kasungu based side TN Stars Football Club also raised concerns that their team failed to do much better in their first year in the TNM Super League as their coach Meke Mwase was busy with the Malawi under 20 national team.
Be Forward Wanderers will start the 2019 TNM Super League season on 13th April with a match against MZUNI football club at the Kamuzu Stadium.
