Silver Strikers Football Club has announced that they have parted ways with Former Malawi national football team midfielder Helings Mwakasungula who was the clubs team manager following a ban from the world football governing body FIFA over match fixing.
Last week FIFA released a report banning the former Silver Strikers and Moroka Swallows midfielder not to take part in any football related activities for life but the central bankers awaited a communication from the country’s FA to take action.
Speaking in an interview Silver Strikers General Secretary Lawrence Yobe said they have received a communication from the Football Association of Malawi hence their decision to part ways with Mwakasungula.
“Football Association of Malawi has written to us not to use Hellings Mwakasungula who until his ban from FIFA was the team manager for Silver Strikers and upon receiving the letter here we are making the official announcement that he is no longer part of our technical panel.
“For now our goalkeepers trainer Sibusiso Padambo will act as interim team manager as he has in the past been acting on that position until we sit down as the Executive Committee and find some one who we can employ as the team manager “, Yobe said.
Yobe further said that the departure of Mwakasungula is a big blow to the club.
“We started jelling in all departments of the team including the technical panel which Mwakasungula was part of and we expected his experience to greatly help the players but that we have been told not to use him it’s a big blow to us “, said Yobe.
