Former Malawi national football team coach Ronny Van Geneugden (RVG) has congratulated the flames for a good run of results that has seen the team qualified to the quarter finals of the COSAFA tournament.
RVG left the team in March this year after the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) decided to extend his contract after the teams poor run of results during his era when the team managed only two wins from 22 games said he is happy the flames have finally started winning.
“Am happy they had more better possession and scored three goals in the game against Seychelles and am happy for they won the Namibia match. Everyone deserves this “, he said.
The flames are in group B at the 2019 COSAFA tournament and have managed to win all two games they have played with most of the players that were also used by RVG during his two years with the team but failed to produce good results, which is a different story with interim coach Meke Mwase.
The flames will finish their group B action on Thursday against Mozambique with the flames already qualified to the quarter finals to face Zambia on Sunday.
