TNM Super League debutants Mlatho Mponela Football Club have registered their first win in the 2019 season as they managed to defeat the Mighty Tigers Football Club 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the CIVO Stadium.
Mlatho Mponela was a better side in the day as they outplayed Tigers in all departments and fought hard to earn their first maximum points with goals from Patrick Macheso and Precious Chipungu.
After the match Mlatho Mponela Football Club coach Eddington Ng’onamo was happy with the way his charges performed and said its the start of a new chapter at the club.
“Am happy we have managed to register our first win in the super league as we have not been able to get the results in the past games and this should give the boys confidence that we can do better if we work hard and this win is the start of a new chapter for Mlatho Mponela Football Club “, said Ng’onamo.
On his side coach for Might Tigers Football Club Gerald Phiri said that It pains when you are on the losing side and today the boys failed to play the way we planned, too bad we lost the important points.

In another TNM Super League match on Saturday afternoon, Ntopwa Football Club also won for the first time in the elite league as they defeated Chitipa United 3-1 at the Karonga Stadium.
Goals from Davie Banda, Tione Jailosi and the Nigerian Friday Osagie were enough for the Bangwe based side to collect three points while Shelton Banda scored the consolation goal for the home side from the penalty spot.
Speaking after the game , technical director for Ntopwa Football Club Isaac Jomo Osman said “We are building a strong side and the boys seem to be in good shape now and the goal we managed to score last week against Nyasa Big Bullets gave us confidence that we can be able to get positive results that why we worked hard and managed to correct maximum points and am happy for that ,”
Ntopwa Football Club has now moved to 11th position with five points from five games while Chitipa United still remain bottom of the log table as they have two points from four games. At the Nankhaka Stadium in Lilongwe, a brace from Martial Maluwa was enough to give Kamuzu Barracks Football Club three points as they won 2-0 against Blue Eagles Football Club.
Kamuzu Barracks have now moved to third position on the log table with eight points from four games while Blue Eagles are now on position one despite the loss as the have eleven points from six games.
