Silver Strikers Football Club has brought to their technical panel former defender Itaye Nundwe as their new team manager after parting ways with Hellings Mwakasungula.
Last week the club announced parting ways with Hellings Mwakasungula who was the team manager before receiving a communication from Football Association of Malawi (FAM) advising the team not to work with him as he was found guilty of match fixing while playing for the Malawi National football team at the African Cup of Nations in Angola in 2010.
Lawrence Yobe who is the clubs general secretary has confirmed Yobe has been reporting for duty since Tuesday.
“We received a communication from FAM that we should not use Hellings Mwakasungula starting from 24th April because of his ban from FIFA, we have chosen Itaye Nundwe as our new team manager.”
“Itaye Nundwe is not new to the club as he once played for Silver Strikers and was part of the technical panel that won the league back to back and we fell he will help the club achieve it’s goals of winning trophies this season “, Yobe said.
Itaye Nundwe said, “It’s an honor to me to be given such a position at a big club like Silver Strikers and I will work hard to help the team achieve it’s goals this season.”
Sibusiso Padambo who is the goalkeeper trainer at the club, was the interim team manager after Hellings Mwakasungula was fired.
