Blue Eagles Football Club has strengthened it’s squad with new players as they prepare for the coming 2019 season. The Area 30 based team has brought eight new faces at its base and the players are mostly from lower division sides.

The 2018 Airtel Top 8 Champions have on a list of their new players notable faces in the name of Yamikani Tambala who played for Dwangwa United in 2018 and Onesimo Mbendera who was with the relegated Nchalo United in the 2018 season.

The club has also opted for the services of Maxwell Gastavo Munthali from Ekwendeni Hammers,  Willex Ngwenya from White Eagles,  Boniface Maliwata from Kasungu Police,  Hezekiah Chimseu of Chilimampunga FC,  Fostet Bitton of Mtsiriza United and Misheck Mwachipitsa who was playing for Steffolds FC.

Coach for Blue Eagles Decklerk Msekakuona said the new players have the potential of helping the club achieve it’s goals in the coming season. “We have seen the potential in these players that’s why we have given them a chance to be part of us and we feel their coming in will be of great help to the club as we have set targets for ourselves,  which is not just to participate in tournaments but to compete”

“We didn’t want to mostly go for players who ready have made names but we have opted for these young stars to be given a chance to make names for themselves “, said Msakakuona.

The Eagles have made the signings few days after it released Rudo Magombo and Beston Jimu and loaned out Patrick Thawale,  Semu Banda, Chakonda Majanga and Pachalo Kumilonde.

The club has also failed to convince Malawi under 23 midfielder Gregory Nachipo to extend his stay at the club after his contract expired and the player has joined Civil Sporting Club.

Blue Eagles will in 2019 play in three competitions of the four that are played in the country namely TNM super league,  FISD cup and Carlsberg Cup but will fail to defend the Airtel Top 8 Cup they won in 2018 after they failed to finish in the top 8 of the super league last year.
