South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Free State Stars Football Club have invited Be Forward Wanderers Football Club player to tirals. The defenders Lucky Malata and Peter Cholopi will head to South Africa next week.
Free State Stars has been scouting the two players for the long time in the TNM Super League. Cholopi was also monitored at the just ended Cosafa tournament in Durban, South Africa as he was with the Flames.
Wanderers Chairperson Gift Mkandawire has confirmed the development. He has said the free state side has shown interest in the two boys.
“Free State Stars have shown interest in the players and has invited them for trials. It’s a good development when some clubs see potential in our players and we wish them well ahead of their trials as its not only Wanderers that will benefit but the nation as a whole as it will give a wide selection of national team players”, he said.
The former Silver Strikers player Lucky Malata and Cholopi who played for Tigers football club played a part in helping the club win the Super league after ten years in 20017 before winning the FISD challenge Cup a year later.
This will not be the first time for Free State Stars look to sign a Malawian. The club employed Kinnah Phiri as coach from 2013-16. Currently five Malawians Gabadinho Mhango, Limbikani Mzamva, Gerald Phiri jnr, Robert Ng’ambi and Richard Mbulu play in the South African PSL league.
