Malawi under 20 national football team on Monday left the country for Lusaka, Zambia for the coming Cosafa youth championship.
Speaking before departure, junior flames coach Peter Mponda said his chargers have prepared well and know the importance of doing well at the tournament.
Our preparations for the tournament went on well and we have managed to assemble a good squad which I am confident will give good results at the tournament. We have talked to the boys the importance of winning the first game which in most cases gives you confidence and they look forward to raising the national flag”, Mponda said.
The former Wizard football club coach further said that they know it won’t be easy playing against Zambia.
“We have failed to defeat Zambia both at junior and senior level before, and we know facing them as host of the tournament will not be easy but we want to make history and overturn the tables”, he said.
The Jnr flames who are in group A will play the opening match against Comoro Island on Wednesday before facing Botswana the following day.
Malawi will finish it’s group assignments with a date against the host on December 9.
