Malawi under 17 football team – in Malawi dates for the tournament 2019 to be confirmed.
Malawi has been granted the rights to host the July 2019 Council of Southern African Football Association ( Cosafa) at the Annual General Meeting ( AGM) held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday.
Confirming the development, Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) General Secretary, Alfred Gunda said :
” At the AGM Cosafa has approved a rotational hosting plan for it’s tournaments and that Malawi is to host the 2019 under 17 tournament with dates for the competition to be announced later when the executive members meet again”.
Meanwhile the Malawi under 17 team manager Enosi Chatama asked the countries FA to give the boys the necessary support towards the tournament.
“I am happy for we are to host the tournament this year. It now remains in our hands to prepare well for the tournament which will give our boys exposure on home soil. Therefore FAM should step up preparations for the boys as early as possible “, Chatama said.
Hosting the tournament will give Malawi a chance to improve it’s infrastructures intend of stadiums which are to be used for the tournament as well as its economy as the participating teams will come with foreign currency.
