Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that this year’s cosafa youth championship which the country is hosting from October 11-20 will be free of charge.
The FA’s commercial director Limbani Matola said this has been made to give Malawians a chance to watch the future in action.
“Everything is in place for us to host the tournament and am delighted to announce that all games will be free of charge. We want more people to go and support the junior flames as we aim to win the championship” he said.
However, Matola said people will still use tickets at the gates.
“We have arranged for match day tickets which everyone coming to watch these games should show at the gate. This is to control crowds and enhance security at the match venues”, he said.
The tickets will be accessed within Blantyre at MAP offices, Malawi Housing Corporation offices, Misesa primary school and Kamuzu stadium.
The jnr flames will start the championship on Saturday against South Africa before playing Eswatini on Monday and Zambia on Wednesday.
The 2019 cosafa youth championship kicks off on Friday with Lesotho playing Comoros before Angola take on Mozambique in a later game.
Malawi hosted the championship in 2001 where they managed to be champions.
