Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves have been crowned champions of the Chitetezo Mbaula Southern Region Football League SRFL after holding Mtopwa FC to a goalless draw in a game played at Kamuzu Stadium.
In a game watched by a huge crowd, Mtopwa FC was quick to fire shots onto Nyasa Big Bullets goal as they wanted an early goal, but the Reserve was alert and denied Mtopwa FC an early led.
Mtopwa FC continued to create more scoring opportunities but their front line men kept miss firing as they were kept at check by Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves Charles Petro.
Speaking after the match, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves coach Enos Chatama was happy with how his boys played.
“I am happy that we managed to play our cards well and managed to get a draw which has made us to be champions. I would like to congratulate my boys for a good job done’’, Chatama said.
His opposite number, Mtopwa FC Chairperson, Isaac Jomo Osman congratulated Big Bullets Reserves for winning the Championship and said luck was just not on their side as they created more scoring opportunities.
The draw meant that both teams, Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves and Mtopwa FC have finished the league with 96 points each but Bullets Reserves has won the league for having a better goals differences of 90 against 53 of Mtopwa FC.
Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves went home a million kwacha richer for winning the SRFL and have emulated an example set by their parent club Nyasa Big Bullets FC who won the 2018 TNM Super League and they have won the Premier Division Championship a year after they were promoted having won the big prize in Division 1.
