Malawi National football team midfielder Chikoti Chirwa has been ruled out of the 2020 African Nations of Champions (CHAN) second leg qualifiers match against Eswatini on Saturday at the Kamuzu Stadium.
The midfielder who started for the Flames two weeks ago in Eswatini in the first leg match has suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s training session joining the list of injured players in Flames camp.
Team manager for the Flames James Sangala confirmed the development saying its a big blow to the team but they will have to sit down and look for options.
“Chikoti Chirwa has sustained a knee injury which means he will not be available for selection for the match on Saturday against Eswatini,”
“It’s a big blow to the team considering that he played a part in the first leg match and that another defending midfielder in the name Alfred Manyozo is also injured but as the technical panel we should sit down and look for options we can use to get the results on Saturday “, Sangala said.
This week only the Flames has seen two defenders Peter Cholopi and Denis Chembezi as well as midfielder Chikoti Chirwa ruled out due to injuries while midfielder Alfred Manyozo and Striker Peter Banda did not report for training this week as they got injured during the weekend while playing for their clubs in the TNM Super League.
