Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released names of nominees for Airtel top 8 cup player of the tournament.
Karonga United which played in the cup for the first time has midfielder Victor Lungu among the nominees. Lungu was instrumental for the team to reach the finals and played in all four games in the cup.
The dreadrocked play maker was voted man of the match in the finals Karonga lost to Silver Strikers 1_0.
The other nominees, Silver Strikers duo of goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and midfielder Duncain Nyoni will battle it for the prestigious award.
The two also played in all the teams four games and Munthali did not conceded a goal in the 360 minutes played.
Duncain Nyoni played a part when the central bankers defeat Wanderers in the semi finals at the Kamuzu stadium. He later scored the winner in the semi finals return leg at the Silver stadium to win the man of the match award.
The Malawi sports media fraternity will vote for the winner to be crowned an an award gala later this month.
Brighton Munthali won the award last year beating former team mate Blessings Tembo and Wanderers Khumbo Ng’ambi.
