1989 – “Hannah Sider was born in Malawi on this day. A photographer who is perhaps most famous for her portraits of musicians, including A$AP Rocky, Joey Bada$$ and Wiz Khalifa. Her work has been seen in Complex, Elle Canada, High Snobiety and more. She received her first camera as a gift when she was 12 years old. She lived in Toronto, Canada before moving to New York City. She shares her celebrity and fashion photography with more than 70,000 followers on Instagram. 

Her parents were doing emergency relief work in Malawi when she was born. She has cited her portrait of Pharrell Williams as the favourite of her portraits. “

1979 – “Born on this day Daliso Chaponda a standup comedian who made a name for himself competing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2017. Before Fame

He began his comedy career in Canada performing the one-man show Feed This Black Man. A talented fiction writer, he has penned science fiction, fantasy, and murder mystery stories for numerous publications. His father, George, is a former Justice Minister for Malawi. He scored a golden buzzer from Amanda Holden on Britain’s Got Talent.”

2012 – The first international soccer match against Eritrea was won 3-2. The match was a Cecafa Tournament. Goals scored by Msowoya (3) (67) and Mhone (11)


2009 –  In central Congo a Soviet-made plane crashed, killing 33, including 13 people on the ground.


2016 – Former NFR player Darren Sharper sentenced to 20 years in prison for a series of rapes

1978 – UN observes ” international day of solidarity with Palestinian people”, boycotted by US& about 20 other countries
